How to make Wheat paste:
Easy Instructions with Photos/ Video/Examples

Expressing yourself is an important part of being a human. Now more than ever expressing how you feel, what you think, & what you know is crucial to your well-being and the future of the world ( to a certain extent).

A good way to share your feelings on a large scale is to make it public. Really public. Wheatpaste posters are an easy & cheap way to display your thoughts in your local community, a new city your visiting, main street, or wherever.

To make wheat paste:

Use four parts water and one part flour.
Pour the water into a pan and bring it to a boil.
Once the water is boiling then pour the flour into the boiling water.
Turn the burner down to low-medium heat, and stir continuously until the mixture is smooth and lump-free.
Turn off the heat and pour into a container for use ( preferably something with a closable lid, like a large water bottle or container)

Use it now, or store it in a refrigerator or cool place until you’re ready to use it.

Some people say you can add a little sugar to make it more adhesive. I’ve tried this before and it seems to work. Add a spoonful of sugar to the flour while you are heating it on the stove.

To make a poster to use with the wheatpaste you can:

Use rasterbator to create a large poster from 8×11 paper and a normal desktop printer. Easy instructions on using the program here.
Ask a local print shop to print a large-size paper print for you.
Get large rolls of craft paper and hand-design your poster
The larger the poster, the more visible. But everything has its place.

Choose your poster size, application site, and timing wisely.

Consider your safety and always go out with a trusted friend. Watch out & be aware of your surroundings.

Print your poster on thin paper so the paste can seep through, preferably uncoated paper.

You will need a big paintbrush or paint roller to apply the wheatpaste. Gloves help keep you clean too.

Pack up your wheatpaste, posters, paintbrush, gloves, etc, and go searching for a spot in the world to hang your poster. (it’s easier to look for locations a few days before.) Find the perfect location and have a friend keep a lookout for trouble.
Use your paintbrush to add a layer of paste to the wall or surface.
Press your poster onto the pasted wall and push out any air bubbles.
Add another layer of wheatpaste over the top of your poster to finish.
Embrace your work & leave quickly.
